    Dr. Adriano Sobreira

With more than 22 years of career, especially in International Law, the lawyer has built a trajectory marked by ethics, struggle for justice and promotion of social peace

Advogar is a dream that has always accompanied Adriano Sobreira. The independence and reach of the profession in the world are some of the factors that led him to start and solidify a career that has already exceeded two decades. Occupant of the position of 1st Vice-President of the International Law Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association – Section of Ceará (OAB-CE), in the triennium 2016-2018, it was in International Law that Adriano found ground to put efforts not only in international business, contributing to the development of the country in different segments, but also in the promotion of a culture of peace and social justice.

"I've always wanted to be a lawyer. I like the independence of the profession and, through it, contribute to promoting peace, social well-being, balance, the distribution of justice and the insertion of my country in the most diverse areas of international trade. Watching, competently, foreign investors who believe in our potential, and attracting new international investments, always with zeal and social responsibility, essential for sustainable growth", highlights the lawyer.

Sobreira holds a bachelor's degree in Law, a postgraduate degree in International Law and Consumer Law from the University of Fortaleza (Unifor), and a Master's degree in Constitutional Law from the same University. He is the author of the book entitled "Kidnapping International Children: A Reading in the Light of the Principle of The Best Interest of the Child", published by Editora Dialética, in 2022, and pre-associated by Prof. Dr. Antônio Jorge Pereira Júnior. But thinking about the multiplicity of knowledge, it also expands its capacity based on updated readings, through the literature and signature of several legal journals, in addition to other means, such as congresses and legal seminars.

In addition to international law, the lawyer works in Real Estate Law, Civil Law, Business Law, Contracts, Energy Law and Consumer Law. Among the goals that does not lose sight, fight for justice; harmonise, always with ethics, the interests of customers; profit from social responsibility; contribute to sustainable economic and social development; value and seek the health of the soul and social peace. Among the career milestones, he highlights cases involving international kidnapping of children. "They always deserve special care, in view of the best interests of the child," he says. In addition, the success achieved in extradition proceedings in the Supreme Court and action in the trade of energy projects deserve to be highlighted.

If the law currently has challenges to overcome, Sobreira emphasizes the need to keep up with the increasingly rapid and constant transformations that world economies live in social relations, as well as in international trade and business in general. For him, the right still slows to adjust to the reality of social relations, recent practices and models implemented in international trade and business, but believes that the speed of this adaptation tends to increase as professionals look at the new technologies and tools that bring peoples, entrepreneurs closer and closer, to states, governments and international organizations.

During the covid-19 pandemic, Sobreira completed and defended her master's thesis, improved and standardized several office routines with a view to the efficiency and excellence of the services provided by the firm, as well as established new partnerships and conquered new markets in Brazil and abroad.

On the future, the lawyer is hopeful about the growth of an increasingly borderless market. "I believe in a promising future for professionals working in the area of international law because new technologies have brought people and markets around the world very close. Consequently, people and companies will certainly become increasingly internationalized and will need legal assistance to establish themselves safely outside their country of origin", he bet.
